by the end of的三种用法

1、用于表示时间的场合，表示“不迟于”，如

We are to complete the task by the end of January.

一月底之前我们必须完成此项任务。

2、用过去完成时，强调在所提及的过去时间之前已完成的动作，如

We have sold over 1000 tickets by the end of last week.

到上周末我们已经卖出了超过1000张的票。

3、用一般过去时，只表示动词发生在过去，不强调在所提及的过去时间之前已经完成，如，

By the end of the year, this group had assets of 3.5 billion RMB.

到这年年底，该集团拥有的资产达35亿人民币。
